Vox at Zurich, 30th and 31st May 1968
Below, a series of pictures of the so-called "Monster Konzert", Zurich Hallenstadion, 30th and 31st May 1968. On the bill: Jimi Hendrix, The Animals, The Move, The Koobas, Traffic, and Cream.
For details on the concert - pictures, posters, interviews, clips and so on - see the monsterkonzert.blogspot. The pics below all come from the blog.
Musikhaus Embag, which promoted Vox for the show, was a well established Vox dealer. It is listed as such in February 1969.
The Zurich concert was one of the last major events to have taken place during the Jennings Musical Industries (JMI) period. In mid 1968, the company became "Vox Sound Equipment Limited"
For bands with Vox solid state amps at other venues, see this page.
Jimi Hendrix on stage, two Supremes to the left (with protective guards over the grilles) and two Supremes visible between the Marshall stacks. The latter belonged to The Animals
At right the sides of the equipment belonging to The Animals (marked "Animal"). At left, the Super Foundation bass.
Two Supremes (one with a suitcase in its back) and the Super Foundation Bass. Note that the Supreme with visible speakers has Celestion, not Goodmans, ceramics.
View from the audience. Note the Supreme on a Vox UL730 cab and trolley left of centre.
View from rear of the Supreme on the UL730 cab. Note the four heatsinks for the power transistors. Conquerors and Defiants only have two.
